THE INSPIRATION OF SCRIPTURE

This is a supernatural process through which God "breathed" into the Scriptures (2 Timothy 3:16), inspiring the authors of the Bible by His Holy Spirit (2 Peter 1:20-21), while still utilizing each writer's unique personality and style. Since God cannot make mistakes or lie (Titus 1:2), this process ensures the authenticity and completeness of the truths written in the Bible (John 17:17).

Remarkable numbers

Although the term "Inspiration"—Theopneustos in Greek—is only used once in the New Testament (2 Timothy 3:16), there are over 2,500 claims of "divine inspiration" in the Old Testament. These claims are short phrases attributed to God, such as "Thus says the LORD..." (Exodus 5:1; Zechariah 8:2).
