OLD TESTEMENT

The Old Testament, at the beginning of the Bible, is a collection of 39 books recording the history, laws, poetry, and prophecies of the Jewish people, spanning from the time of Creation to the Babylonian exile. This was the only 'Scripture' used by Jesus and the apostles in the New Testament, and it is also referred to as the 'Old Covenant.'

The Old Testament provides us with a vivid picture of the special relationship between God and His people. Through its stories, laws, and prophecies, we clearly see how God guided and shaped the Israelites into a holy nation, while also revealing His plan for the salvation of all humanity through the Messiah.

The Old Testament - 39 books

The structure of content in the Old Testament is based on the five books of the Law, followed by the historical formation of the Jewish people over many periods, and finally, the teachings and guidance for the people through poetry and prophetic books, which include worship, admonitions, and warnings about future events.
